Swim Party 2014 - 07/09/14
The annual summer swim party was hosted by the Matychak's. While the children cooled off in the pool and enjoyed a bible school lesson, the adults engaged in fellowship with one another. Much gratitude to Fr. Andrew and Matushka Georgette for organizing the event and preparing a delicious meal for everyone.

Souper Bowl Sunday - 02/02/14
For 16 years, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) has championed the "Souper Bowl of Caring", a ministry dedicated to feeding the poor and helping those in need around the world. After blessing of five new festal icons and "breaking bread" over many homemade soups, the parish of Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church gathered for their annual meeting. Ways to expand community and charitable outreach were discussed as was how to increase the church's visibility in attracting new members.
St. Nicholas Observance - 12/08/13
Our father among the saints Nicholas of Myra, Wonder-worker, was the archbishop of Myra in southern Asia Minor in the fourth century and is also the basis for the Santa Claus legends and imagery which accompany Christmas celebrations in much of the world.
In addition to being honored as the patron saint of many countries, notably Greece and Russia, and of cities, he is the patron of many occupational groups, most notably of sea-farers. St. Nicholas is commemorated by the Church on December 6, and also on May 9 (the transfer of his relics) and on July 29 (his nativity).
40th Anniversary Celebration - 10/27/13
On this day the Lord hath made, friends from near and far joined together in observance of the 40th anniversary of the marriage of Father Andrew and Matushka Georgette Matychak, his ordination to the Holy Priesthood, and their joint ministry to the Orthodox communities of Altoona, Ganister, and Colver.
After the Divine Liturgy, a thanksgiving meal was held at The Blairmont Club in Hollidaysburg. Stirring video tributes were delivered by the Matychak’s son, Jon-Paul, Father Andrew’s extended family, and the sisters of Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City.
Presentations to Father and Matushka were made by the children of the parishes, Father John Govrusik, and Mrs. Irene Kohute. Ron Skvir, who chaired the event, discussed the St. Tikhon’s Married Student Housing Project and how beautiful it would be for the churches to make a contribution to the seminary in honor of the Matychak’s. To conclude the festivities, Father Andrew reflected on the past 40 years, the faith of God’s people, and the love and support he and Matushka have been blessed to receive. A wonderful time was had by all.
May God grant Father Andrew and Matushka Georgette many, many years!
